A mathematically-derived factor indicator of the degree of saturation of calcium carbonate in water. It takes into consideration calcium hardness, total alkalinity, and pH at a given temperature. A Langelier Index of zero indicates perfect water balance- that is, water that is neither corroding nor scaling.
